Choose Wisdom Over Noise

“A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered.”
— Proverbs 17:27 NLT

What if I told you it’s more powerful to say less than to say more and still be misunderstood?

Sometimes circumstances can make us feel the need to defend ourselves immediately. We can feel tempted to respond with words that cut deep, jump into debates that God never called us to entertain, or speak out of emotion instead of wisdom. But not every opinion needs to be voiced, and not every battle requires our response.

This week, try observing and listening more than talking. There is strength in restraint. There is wisdom in silence. Sometimes the loudest statement you can make is allowing God to fight for you while you remain at peace.

Before responding, pause and invite God into your thoughts, your interpretation, and your words. Maybe what He wants you to say will heal instead of harm. Maybe His response will carry more weight than the one you had prepared in your mind.

Scripture reminds us:

“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.”
— Proverbs 15:1 NLT

“Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
— James 1:19 NLT

“Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.”
— Colossians 4:6 NLT

Let’s not stoop to low levels and release words we’ll wish we could take back moments later. Instead, let’s choose speech that reflects Christ — words that are thoughtful, gracious, honest, and timely. Words sweet like honey. Words led by wisdom and not wounded emotions.

What we say matters.
How we say it matters.
And sometimes… what we don’t say matters too.

STAY SAVED.
